Currently there is no construction work planned or going on in the audio wing of the Dunyazad Library. The Librarian recommends a visit to the audio section of Jim Bowering’s Green Comet website, though: where you will find free audio recordings of short stories by different authors, Wil Wheaton and Kelly Link among them. The “Books for Free” page greencomet.org/downloads/ has free audio recordings of Jim Bowering’s “Green Comet” trilogy.
The Audio section of the Dunyazad Digital Library focuses on poetry. Its purpose is, on the one hand, to make those poems accessible to visually impaired readers, since speech synthesizers can do a sufficiently good job with prose, but, as a rule, completely mess up poetry. On the other hand, like a song wants to be sung, a poem wants to be brought to life by a reader who lends it her or his voice, thoughts, experience, and emotions. All recordings have been made for the Dunyazad Digital Library. The texts are in the public domain. You may download the files for private use, but are not allowed to redistribute them without the respective voice artist’s written consent. Enjoy! If you do, please leave a note in the Guestbook. I’d also be happy to hear from you by mail if you have any comments, or if you want to contribute! librarian@dunyazad-library.net Some further audio links:Free Audio Books: Poetry on the Open Culture website, AudioBook Treasury has a few excellently read classic poems, and, of course, there is LibriVox.
